Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Carolina Burkhard began her dance training at age 6 in jazz and ballet. She graduated as a Choreographer and Dance Interpreter from the Reina Reech Dance Studios, specializing in theater jazz, contemporary, ballet, tap and hip-hop. Carolina is a certified Tango Salon teacher from Corporacion Tango and a member of the International Dance Council CID. She is also skilled in urban rhythms such as commercial dance, femme style and a wide range of Latin rhythms, including reggaeton and bachata. A Fitness Instructor and Personal Trainer, she continues to teach group and private classes. Carolina has trained with renowned tango maestros in Buenos Aires for over 14 years, exploring styles from classic tango salon to new tango and stage tango. She has performed and taught in prestigious venues across Argentina and Europe, including the National Academy of Tango in Buenos Aires. Since moving to London in 2018, Carolina has expanded her teaching and performing internationally. Her diverse background and expertise have shaped her into a versatile artist dedicated to inspiring others through the rich tradition and expressive power of Argentine tango.

After a classical education at Cambridge and the Guildhall, he has gone on to an international performing career including recording three albums as a leader; the most recent due for release on Whirlwind Records in 2019, featuring the world-renowned Julian Arguelles on tenor and soprano sax. John has won multiple awards for his two trio albums including MOJO’s #3 Jazz Album of the Year (2012), and ‘Best Album’ in the Parliamentary Awards 2011. He is also known for his work with crossover groups, including regular session and performing work with choral composers Alexander L’Estrange, Will Todd and Paul Mottram, and was a featured soloist in Duke Ellington’s Sacred Concert in Lincoln Cathedral, which will be performed again at Coventry and York Cathedrals in 2019.
John co-runs the E17 jazz collective and curates their programme and festival, as well as conducting and composing for the 13-piece E17 Large Ensemble, his tango quintet ‘Almagro Ensemble’ and his sextet ‘Solstice’, featuring Brigitte Beraha and Tori Freestone. Their debut album ‘Alimentation’ was released on Two Rivers Records in 2017, accompanied by a 20-date Arts Council tour, with a second scheduled for release in autumn 2019.

He is also the principal jazz piano tutor at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, the Purcell and Yehudi Menuhin schools as well as at Royal Holloway, and regularly coaches ensembles and leads workshops at the Guildhall and Royal Academy. John has taught and performed at summer schools in Saarwellingen (Germany), the Concertato Masterclass (Capri, Italy) and the Dartington International Summer School, Devon. LEONEL GASSO
He has traveled to countries on the Asian and European continent, such as Germany, France, South Korea, Tokyo (Japan), Edinburgh, Thailand, Italy, among others, with different Tango projects and popular music from his country.
He recorded two albums, De Puerto a Puerto and Fantasma Fiel, awarded by the MEC. He won the National Music Awards in 2015, 2016, 2020, 2022. He performed in the 3 main Jazz Festivals in Uruguay; “Lapataia” (Punta del Este) with Paquito de Rivera, “Jazz on the street” (Mercedes) and “Jazztour” (Montevideo), with his group Leo Gasso Trio.
He has been part of Jazz-Fusion group projects such as; Luis Alderotti Quartet, Federico Lazarini Grupo, Alfonso Santini Grupo, Pasajero Luminoso, among others from Uruguay and Argentina.
He performed at Galas de Tango with the OFM, (Montevideo Philharmonic Orchestra) as first bandoneon player and soloist. In 2020 he was the first prize of the NATIONAL MUSIC COMPETITION, with the work Dante en Lagomar, Tango category.
In 2021 he made a Tribute to Piazzolla together with the OSSODRE. He performs performances with Lonjatangó, a project created and led by Leonel, and supported by CIATYC, the Inter-Ministerial Commission to support Tango and Candombe.
Early 2022 he performed as a soloist at the prestigious Mercedes Jazz Festival. (Jazz on the street), where this same year he also entered UTEC (Technological University Degree in Jazz and creative music).
He obtained recognition for “Lonjatangó and Leo Gasso Cuarteto”, both solo projects, for “Expande Músicas”, a program promoted by the Ministry of Education and Culture (Mec) with the aim of taking his music to the world in 2022.
Selected and winner of the international competition “Che Bandoneón” of the contest held in the city of Stowe (Vermont) in the United States, in August 2022.
At the end of 2022 he is summoned to play with the Tenerife Philharmonic (Spain) to accompany the prestigious lyrical singer Nancy Fabiola Herrera.
